Ringön, a district renowned for its heavily industrial yet occasionally artistic character, presents itself as a place of rich and multifaceted identity. Zone C, in particular, is no exception. Through its diverse landscape and authentic representations of the working culture, Zone C embodies the essence of a working man s hub. From steel workshops and large-scale industries to construction equipment rental companies, a thriving boat manufacturing sector, and even a handful of small retail businesses, the zone’s character is one of continuous evolution. Over the course of our analyses, we formulated several key conclusions to encapsulate the essence of Zone C. These statements highlight both the challenges and the opportunities within the area, offering a balanced perspective on its present state and its potential future development.

This ‘urban naturum’ includes flood prevention measures through stormwater management, and soil-cleansing through phytoremediation. But mainly, it aims to preserve and value the cultural conditions and historical values of the site while addressing future threats.

FIELD OFFICES
Ludvig Jönsson
An unutilized parking lot at the end of Stålverksgatan, on the border of Ringön and Göta Älv is reenvisioned into a field office for researchers working with restoring and regenerating contaminated soil using bio-remediation. In addition to the arrival of their field offices that contain public spaces and laboratories within, a temporary campus visits the grounds establishing an environment for interdisciplinary workshops, discussions and projects. The campus’s two goals is the production of knowledge and participation between the people of the city.


THE ALGAE AND THE BUBBLE
Vilma Mases
The story of a friendship between a small-scale, air, cleansing prototype and an air structure, together creating different types of public spaces for education and recreation. One more permanent and steadfast - the other more fleeting and flexible. Both determined to create a better environment for the human s and non-humans of Ringón.
PLATFORMS
Konstantinos Demertzidis
This prototype repurposes an abandoned railway network, drawing inspiration from the vibrant street art scene and the need for green spaces. lt introduces a moving platform system featuring modular art walls"for artistic expression and spaces for plant nurseries,traveling along the tracks. The prototype aims to address environmental concerns while enriching Ring'n's character through biodiversity and creative contributions.


ON THE WATERFRONT

Ringön is full of industrial equipment and structures, so why not use already existing assets when reimagining Ringön? ON THE WATERFRONT is an amphibious project that occupies three levels of verticality (SUBAQUATIC, GROUND/SEA LEVEL and AIR) by repurposing self elevating modules found at site.
